2021 in Review: Products

Last year I wrote a review on 2020, feeling like I’ve progressed my career by leaps and bounds; And yet this year I feel like I’ve outdone myself, which only makes 2022 feel all the more daunting. I’m going to separate my accomplishments into multiple posts (which will also help give time for certain products to be announced/released wink-wink), starting with Articles, and now Products!

52-in-52: Playable Ancestries: Headless

My first published heritage! It was a blast researching all the different headless myths from around the world to write this, even if the standard “sleepy hollow”-style headless horseman is a bit more prominently featured than the others. I really loved all the different things you could do with your head, and Owen’s direction to have different abilities depending on what you were using as a head was genius.… Read the rest

2021 in Review: Articles

It’s hard for me to talk about my accomplishments (or even admit that my work are accomplishments), but I know how important it is for me to take some time to just sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labors. Last year I wrote a review on 2020, feeling like I’ve progressed my career by leaps and bounds; And yet this year I feel like I’ve outdone myself, which only makes 2022 feel all the more daunting. I’m going to separate my accomplishments into multiple posts (which will also help give time for certain products to be announced/released wink-wink), starting with Articles!

I’m not going to list every KD article I wrote in 2020. You can find them here.… Read the rest

Paizo Recognizes United Paizo Workers!

United Paizo Workers

Big recognition, gratitude, and celebration for the Paizo employees having their union recognized by Paizo! This is a huge step forward for social justice in the TTRPG world and something near and dead to my own heart, as I’m proud to chronicle here that I was one of the dozens of freelancers who withheld work and opportunity to stand by the employees who help us make our favorite game what it is! Huzzah!

The real work has just begun, and I highly recommend people show their support on social media and with some awesome United Paizo Workers merchandise!

2020 in Review

Can a blog post be too self-indulgent? Hell no. If I wanted to write about Pathfinder, I’d save it for a Know Direction post. If I wanted to talk about someone else’s work, I’d be on Facebook or Discord promoting it. I’m hoping to restart this blog with thoughts about design that aren’t quite a fit for my Know Direction posts, with some product placement. But today? Well, today I want to look back at what I’ve accomplished in 2020, The Year The Earth Stood Still. Who knows: Maybe this will become an annual tradition.

In addition to what’s listed here, there have also been a number of live plays, Know Direction and Geek Together shows, conventions where I ran “author tables”, technical support for Paizocon, and surviving what has ultimately been a loaded and stressful year for everyone on the planet.… Read the rest

Cards for Everybody: Core Cleric Deck

I’m so excited to finally unveil the next in my line of Feat Cards! The Cards for Everybody line is near and dear to my heart, using cards to help sculpt the builds you might have read right here! There are so many fun uses for this product, and I’d love to add more to the list to make the most out of my cards.

You can read more about the product and even order your own deck on Drive Thru RPG. The cards themselves contain every fighter class feat, feature and multiclass feat, plus two bonus tracker cards. There will be new classes released soon, and the more we sell the more likely we are to continue the line through the Core Rulebook and beyond!… Read the rest

Announcement: Fox’s Cunning

As of today I’m officially a staff blogger at the Know Direction Network! Look out for my segment Fox’s Cunning, where I’ll be posting about all the best of Second Edition. For more information, please see the appropriate News Post.

What does that mean for Kitsune Mori?

Well, I’ll still post my random musings and rants here when they come up. Random builds too. Any and all 1e material will still be posted here. And I’ll be linking to each of my Know Direction articles. I’m also going to spend more time linking to some neat content as I find it across the intertubes. For now, I’ll leave you with this incredible student project I found. Looks like a pretty cool setting for Pathfinder, wouldn’t it?… Read the rest

New Horizons: Lost Omens Character Guide

I’m so happy to be in on the ground floor of Second Edition. I’ll admit, it was cool finding overlooked feats from old books back in First Edition, given I was stuck with 3.5 until 2013. But being able to watch and even document a system’s evolution is a blessing as both a Gamemaster and Designer. Last week I got a hold of Lost Omens Character Guide! But in lieu of a traditional review, I’ve decided to instead look at everything the book gives us as “sanctioned” tools for third party developers and designers.

Now this is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of innovations, given every new rules option in a book is theoretically a “first”. I’m sure there are things you feel should be included that didn’t excite me, not to mention things I could have just missed.… Read the rest
