Handy Haversack: Convention Binders
I was prepping for Paizocon and realized how many people give me these shocked looks when I show them my plans. I’m not here to bore you with the same tired list of ten or twenty things you gotta remember to bring to a convention. On the contrary, this will be a rather short post because there’s one critical thing I don’t see enough people do when it comes to maximizing your time and enjoyment at a con.
Oragnize. Plan. Write it out. Print it. Put it in the front of that year’s “Convention Binder”. Make sure you can see the plan without a battery. Make sure you can see it without having to set down your bags. You don’t have to follow a plan to the letter. But if your not setting aside enough time every convention to eat, sleep and do all the things you want to do, it’s your own fault.
You should have a binder with you for your character sheets, chronicles and scratch paper anyway. I usually bring three binders with me and switch through the day. One as a Player. One as a GM. And the third to keep all my extra material I’m not using that day. Switch them out when you get back to your hotel room, before you go to sleep. And make sure you carry a pen incase you need to make any important changes.
